  • A New Sonnet: The Emerald River

Which city does the emerald river flow
Where flowers dance in secret sacred shapes?
    Symbolic eyes forgotten long ago,
Its palace mystery singing to the Fates.

The grand old river swells the earthen banks.
The deep wood’s breath is like a lover’s song.
Its mystic water rises where love sank.
We hold on floating down where we belong.

The waters deep each morning fill the Sun.
An orange glow that fills our eyes and hearts.
The moonlight shimmers where our souls should run.
These circles light the spaces where love starts.

I dream the day when she will turn and say
Joy streaming from her eye, “You finally came.”

  • 200lbs – 30lbs Lost in 3 Months

Photo a little "grainy" cause I always have to use the front facing 1megapixel camera on iPhone to take properly positioned 'portraits'. Hate that!

Hey I was so happy to have reached 200lbs! Just a few weeks ago it seemed so far away! Anyway although my rate of loss has decreased, overall I began this program on March 10th, so that’s almost exactly 30lbs in 3 months or 10lbs a month. Going forward I don’t expect to lose at the rate. Actually it makes me kind of stressed to expect it. I think going forward a pound, pound and half a week would be satisfactory. I think losing that first 10 a little faster is normal because you’re so miserable and you want some feedback fast!

OMG, I ate chocolate cake today! But that’s ok, it’s Sunday. Giving yourself one “free” day is a good thing. I’m actually back dating this post because I reached 200 last Friday, but didn’t get around to posting until today. I’d like to do a post comparing the photos from 220, 210, and now to see if I can see a difference.

Now that I think of it, would have been cool to do a photo per day and make a video of to see the changes.

  • World – Music Video Cover of a Paz Suay Song

This is a cover of a song by Paz Suay, Josh Rouse’s wife, called “World”. I was actually recording into that little mic you can see on top of that candle, a Zoom H2. Then I took that recording into Logic and put some rudimentary drums, bongos, piano, and vibraphone onto the mix. Then I had to sync the video up with the audio in iMovie (No easy task!) But the Zoom gets a pretty nice “room” sound, and overall I think it gives the video a little life and “punch.” Hope you enjoy!

  • Moving On

This is a cover I did tonight of a Josh Rouse song called “Moving On.” Really it was a test of my iPhone 4 video and playing around with iMovie. Also I made a separate recording track on the iPad, a little closer to me with the FiRe recording app. I was testing syncing a separate audio track with video. Actually I want to record audio into Logic with a good mic and higher resolution but didn’t feel like moving my big iMac to the other room just for the test, but actually I think it came out pretty good.
