Saturday Reading: Three New Poems

Sonnet #3

If there’s something today I want to write
If there’s someplace today I want to go
If there’s something today I want to find
Then darling you’re the one who’ll let me know.

The fields are calling me to lay and sleep
I love their breeze, how sweetly they are sung
Their ancient melody sings in my dream
And swims in the clear salt of my sea blood.

Do you think this life is the only one?
Why not be free and wish for it the best?
You wed the world, your child is born to run.
And golden eggs are stolen from the nest.

Two trees appear beyond the burning fields
The frightened deer run up the endless hills.
